Terms of Service
If you do not agree, please do not use the Services.
1. Eligibility & Child Users
Our app is designed for children aged 4+. However, users under the age of 18 must have parental or legal guardian consent.
Parents/Guardians agree to:
- supervise the minor’s use of the app,
- review and accept responsibility for the minor’s activity, and
- ensure the minor understands age-appropriate safety and behaviour.
We may use gameplay data (e.g., progress, accuracy, time spent) to personalise learning. We do not knowingly collect personal information beyond what is necessary to operate the Service without guardian permission.
2. Accounts & Registration
Some features may require account creation. When doing so, you agree to:
- provide accurate information,
- maintain confidentiality of login credentials,
- notify us of any unauthorised access.
Parents/guardians are responsible for account oversight where a child is the primary user.
We may suspend or terminate accounts for violating these Terms.
3. License to Use
We grant a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the app for personal, non-commercial educational purposes.
You may not:
- reverse-engineer, decompile, copy, or modify the software,
- use the Services for commercial exploitation without permission,
- disrupt or interfere with functionality or security,
- upload harmful, illegal, or infringing content.
Use of the Service is provided as-is and may change over time.
4. End User License Agreement (EULA)
Stringboard’s use of Apple’s In-App Purchase system is governed by Apple’s Standard End User License Agreement, available at: https://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula/
5. Educational Content & Learning Outcomes
Stringboard provides tools to support Chinese character learning. Every learner progresses differently, and we do not guarantee specific learning results, grades, or academic performance.
Content may be updated or replaced at any time.
6. Subscriptions, In-App Purchses & Billing
Premium features may be accessed via subscriptions or one-time purchases. Payments are handled by:
- Apple App Store
- Google Play Store
- (future) China-approved billing providers
By subscribing you acknowledge that:
- subscriptions auto-renew unless cancelled,
- billing and refunds are processed by the app platform,
- prices may vary by region, exchange rate, or promotion,
- we do not provide prorated refunds unless required by law.
You are responsible for managing subscription settings through your App Store or Google Play account.
7. Cancellations & Refund Policy
You may cancel at any time in App Store / Google Play account settings. Access remains until the end of the billing cycle.
Refunds must be requested directly from the platform provider unless local consumer law requires otherwise.
8. Intellectual Property
All content—including software, UI, curriculum, graphics, stroke-order animations, artwork, audio, trademarks, and branding—is owned by or licensed to Stringboard Technologies Limited.
You may not copy, reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works without written permission.
9. User-Generated Content
If you submit feedback, artwork, text, suggestions, or gameplay data, you grant us a worldwide, royalty-free licence to store, analyse, and use that content for product improvement, research, and feature development.
We may remove content that is harmful, inappropriate, or unlawful.
10. Data, Privacy & Child Protection
Your use of the Services is also governed by our Privacy Policy.
We take special measures to protect children’s data. We do not collect more information from child users than reasonably necessary to operate the Service.
We may store data on servers outside your region.
11. Mainland China Release (Future Provisions)
If launched in China, the Service may require:
- China-localised data storage,
- additional parental controls,
- content compliance with Chinese regulations,
- approved domestic billing providers.
Updated terms will be published if required for China access.
12. Availability, Updates & Maintenance
We may modify, update, add, or remove features at any time. Service uptime is not guaranteed.
We are not liable for unavailability due to maintenance, network failure, third-party outages, or government restrictions.
13. Warranty Disclaimer
The Services are provided “as is”, with no express or implied warranties including fitness for purpose, accuracy, reliability, or performance guarantee.
Parents and guardians are responsible for monitoring a child’s device usage and safety.
14. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Stringboard Technologies Limited is not liable for:
- indirect or consequential loss,
- loss of data, revenue, profits, or education outcomes,
- misuse of the app or failure to supervise child users.
Total liability shall not exceed the amount paid by you in the preceding 12 months (if any).
15. Termination
We may suspend or terminate access if:
- Terms are violated,
- security or misuse is detected,
- legal requirements necessitate removal.
Upon termination, access to premium features may cease.
16. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Hong Kong SAR.
Disputes shall be resolved in the Courts of Hong Kong, unless local consumer protection laws apply otherwise.
17. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms. Continued use after changes signifies acceptance.

In the event of any discrepancy or conflict between translated versions of these Terms, the English version shall prevail.
