WHAT OUR USERS ARE SAYING
Stringboard might be more beginner-friendly compared to other input methods for those new to Chinese input, while also offering a better understanding of Chinese character structure.
Dee
I really appreciate the design concept of Stringboard. It’s essentially a stroke-based input method, but it breaks away from the constraints of the traditional nine-key layout and uses big data to prioritize commonly used components and characters. The shortcut feature for frequent components has been attempted by some mobile input methods in the past, but without standardization. I hope Stringboard succeeds.

Currently, if I want to type Taiwanese words, I can only use pinyin or phonetic symbols. Personally, I didn’t learn Taiwanese through romanization, so I use a Mandarin keyboard to type Taiwanese characters via Mandarin pronunciation 😅. I’ve always wanted a keyboard for typing based on character structure. But Cangjie isn’t very suitable for me, and I can’t master it in a short time. Everyone should support them and give them some attention. It seems like this input method hasn’t been fully developed yet, but maybe this could be the future for non-Mandarin Chinese dialects in vernacular writing!
taitsootennsim
I think it’s much clearer how to type many characters. I use strokes before🤣.
Chloe
I fully support having new input methods, because compared to pinyin in Taiwan or mainland China, the learning curve for those systems feels very off-putting.
Guang
It’s pretty cool to create a new input method.
kangen.miracle.academy
After trying it for a while, I think it’s easier to use than Simplified Cangjie.
Ming
It’s more convenient than handwriting. With Stringboard, you don’t need to fully write out a character to find it.
Ian
I’m not familiar with pinyin, and I’m not good at Simplified Cangjie. After discovering Stringboard, I’ve regained some interest in typing.
Grrrrrayjpy
The suggested words are really helpful!
Jennylam99999
I let my 5-year-old son try it, and he can even use it to type his own name!
Fion
I study Chinese literature and have a strong interest in and high standards for Chinese characters. Seeing Stringboard mainly use radicals and strokes, I quite like it.
Man
Faster than when I usually use Simplified Cangjie XD
Kel512564
This should be useful for foreigners learning to write Chinese!
Chilap
Finally, someone is addressing the issues with Chinese input methods.
Chaptino
Merging typing with writing is a great idea
Raymond
The fewer key options compared to Simplified Cangjie make it easier and faster to decide.
CM
It doesn’t restrict you to just one input method and has a high tolerance for errors.
Don
The layout is good, and the buttons are large, reducing the chances of mistyping.
James
Even some really complex characters are available in it.
Tyson
The concept is great, and I hope more people learn about Stringboard.
