Growing up in a Cantonese-speaking family abroad, our founder faced the challenge of maintaining her Chinese skills in a world where English input was fast and intuitive. Watching her family and friends struggle with typing in Chinese—constantly switching between several keyboards to meet their needs—highlighted the limitations of existing input methods.

Determined to create a better solution, she set out to develop a tool that’s not only fast and easy, but also intuitive for those who already know how to write characters. Originally designed to support their family, Stringboard has since evolved for anyone who values efficient typing without losing touch with the knowledge of writing Chinese. We believe in preserving character literacy in today's digital age, and hope to make this possible for communities across all dialects.
